Skin Cancer

Basal cell and Squamous cell cancers are referred to as non-melanoma skin cancer. Risk factors include excessive exposure to ultraviolet rays from the sun or tanning booths. They typically occur on sun-exposed areas of the skin and tend to be more common in individuals with fair skin. This form of cancer can appear as a non-healing ulcer. Annual skin exams are recommended and sun protection should be worn daily to sun exposed areas.
